Japanese Investment Exploration in Jakarta Transport Projects a Good Opportunity
Public policy analyst from Trisakti University, Trubus Rahadiansyah, assessed that the exploration of investment opportunities from Japan in DKI Jakarta’s strategic transport projects by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government represents a very good opportunity. “This is a very good opportunity in order to multiply and accelerate public transport services in Jakarta,” said Trubus when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. He further explained that support from the central government and transparency to the public are key if the DKI Provincial Government wishes to concretise the investment exploration from Japan. “In my opinion, regarding this effort to explore investment from Japan, if it is to be made concrete, there must indeed be support from the central government,” said Trubus. Trubus also viewed that exploring Japanese investment has the potential to create jobs for the community. “This opens up broader opportunities, including employment and so forth,” he said. For information, the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir, once conducted a working visit to DKI Jakarta to explore potential investment from Japan in a number of strategic projects in the province. Additionally, the sister-province cooperation between Jakarta and Tokyo, which has been active since 1989, is strengthened by the presence of more than 10 thousand Japanese citizens working in 1,500 companies in the capital city.
