Japanese Experts Calculate the Date of Doomsday, Here's the Schedule

A study from Japan’s Toho University has attempted to calculate when doomsday will occur on Earth. The calculations estimate that the end of life will happen in the year 1,000,002,021.

In about five billion years, the Sun will enter its Red Giant phase. The centre of the solar system will expand and swallow its three nearest planets: Mercury, Venus, and Earth. However, researchers estimate that humans will not witness this event, as conditions on Earth will be too hostile to support life long before then.

In one billion years, thermal energy from the Sun will destroy organisms with deadly heat, coronal mass ejections, and the release of radioactive gamma rays. In fact, the latter two solar activities have already occurred frequently through solar flares, disrupting radio communications, satellite operations, and GPS systems. Humans are not directly harmed thanks to the planet’s atmosphere. Nevertheless, changes could occur over the coming millions of years depending on the level of solar activity and climate change.

Technological developments could possibly save humanity from extinction. It is likely that humans will no longer be on Earth and will have spread across outer space, potentially colonising other planets in the Milky Way galaxy, with Mars as the first agenda.

Even so, a threat to human life will occur in the near future. This is not about the expansion of the Sun. Climate change and a global increase in temperatures risk ending the Holocene period and causing major disruptions to weather patterns on Earth. The impact could lead to natural disasters, damage to crops and harvests, and place humans under critical pressure. According to the World Health Organization, the adverse effects of this event could begin as early as 2030, when it is believed there will be 250,000 more deaths than usual due to disease.
