Japanese divers go missing

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: Police are still searching the
waters for five Japanese and one Indonesian diver missing after a
dive near Betang Island yesterday afternoon.

The divers were reported missing in the afternoon, lost on
their second dive of the day yesterday, when the captain of the
boat they had rented became concerned when they failed to turn up
again.

"We're still looking for them," said Sgt. Robinson of the
Bulukumba precinct. But as of 10:30 p.m. yesterday none of them
had been found.

The area is renowned for its diving and attracts divers
worldwide. (mds)
