Japanese commits suicide in Bali
DENPASAR, Bali: A 41-year-old Japanese man, apparently
distressed over a failed relationship and business problems,
hanged himself in a restroom of the Oriental Restaurant in the
island's resort area of Nusa Dua.
Local police said the death was the second apparent suicide of
a Japanese man within three days, after a women found the body of
her newly-wed husband in the couple's hotel room on Saturday.
Denpasar Police detectives chief Comr. Budi Wasono said an
Oriental Restaurant employee found the dead man hanging from the
ceiling of the restroom around 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.
The man was identified as Minoru Takefuci, of Ojika Itami,
Nyogo. He had been living and working in Bali for almost three
years.
A restaurant employee recalled that before entering the rest
room, Takefuci had spent a considerable amount of time drinking
liquor with Ni Made Satik, a waitress at the restaurant. Takefuci
seemed to be a lonely and tormented man.
"He hanged himself with his own shoelaces, but in his bag we
also found a roll of metal cable. It seemed that he had made all
the necessary preparations to take his own life," Wasono said.
