Japanese brands continue to dominate used car market
Agung Iskandar, Director of OLXmobbi, stated that Japanese brands continue to dominate the used car market, according to the company’s vehicle inspection data throughout 2025. Speaking at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday, he noted that the vehicles brought to OLXmobbi for inspection are primarily from five Japanese brands. This trend reflects the market dynamics of new car sales from approximately three to five years ago.
OLXmobbi’s data shows that Toyota accounts for 4t2 per cent of all vehicles inspected during 2025. Honda holds the second position with a 16 per cent contribution, followed by Daihatsu (8 per cent), Mitsubishi (6 per cent), and Suzuki (5 per cent). According to the 2025 data, the most frequently inspected used car models include the Toyota Innova, followed by the Toyota Avanza, Toyota Rush, Honda HR-V, and Toyota Fortuner.
Agung added that the ease of the trade-in process can boost new car sales in Indonesia. In addition to facilitating vehicle trade-ins, OLXmobbi, alongside OLX, assists consumers looking to find and purchase new cars. OLX users can utilise the ‘New Car’ feature, launched in June 2026, to search for and compare options across various brands. The company has also introduced the OLX Virtual Assistant (OLA), an AI-based virtual assistant designed to help users select and purchase vehicles.
