Japan to help RI on maritime safety
JAKARTA: Japan will send a coast guard delegation, consisting of 12 people, here on Wednesday to help Indonesian law enforcers improve their ability to secure the country's maritime territory.
The Japanese delegation will be led by the head of the Japan Police's Sea International Crime division, Tatsuro Matsuwaki.
They will also take part in a joint patrol on the Java Sea on Thursday and discuss antipiracy, antiterrorism and law enforcement against illegal drugs with their Indonesian counterparts, Information and Cultural Attache of the Japan Embassy here, Sachiko Furuya, told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
The Japanese delegation will also give a patrol ship to Minister of Communications Syamsul Mu'arif in Batam on Oct. 10. The ship will operate on the Malacca Strait. --JP
