Japan sends mission to Asia

TOKYO (Reuters): Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi said on Thursday
that Japan would send a mission to six Asian countries in late
August to study possible ways of helping them revive their
economies.

The seven-member mission, led by Japan Federation of Employers
Associations chairman Hiroshi Okuda, would visit South Korea,
Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines from
late August to early September, Obuchi said.

The Japanese group would discuss with government and business
leaders of the six countries to assess the economic situation
there and the effects of Japan's aid, he told a Tokyo seminar.
