Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi has expressed hope that international support for Palestine will continue to increase in order to achieve a two-state solution. Motegi made the remarks while chairing a ministerial-level meeting of the Conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) in Manila, Philippines, on Wednesday (22/7). “The survival of Palestine is crucial to realising the two-state solution,” Motegi said, as reported by Japanese public broadcaster NHK. According to Motegi, CEAPAD can contribute to Palestinian state-building efforts through medium- and long-term human resource development. Capacity building in the fields of health, education, agriculture, and tourism were cited as cooperation priorities. Motegi also stressed the importance of trilateral cooperation, namely collaboration between partner countries to support Palestine according to their respective strengths.
