TOKYO (AFP): Japanese trading houses Nissho Iwai Corp.,
Sumitomo Corp. and Tomen Corp. have won a 9.7 billion yen (US$115
million) to supply an Indonesian project with power equipment,
company officials said yesterday.
Under the deal, Nissho Iwai received a 7.2 billion yen order
for four substations, the officials said. Nissho Iwai will source
the equipment from Japan's Hitachi Ltd. and Cogelex of France.
Sumitomo meanwhile received a 1.2 billion yen order for
underground power lines for two routes and will source the
equipment from Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd.
Tomen received a 1.3 billion yen order for two substations,
which will be supplied by Fuji Electric Co. Ltd.
The three Japanese companies are part of a consortium of
Japanese, French and German companies involved in the Indonesian
project worth $400 million, the officials said.
