Japan helps rehabilitation center

JAKARTA: The government of Japan has extended financial assistance to the Pamardi Putra Social Recovery Center in Lembang, West Java, the Embassy of Japan said in Jakarta.

The center, which is owned by the West Java administration, provides vocational training to former drug addicts as part of its rehabilitation program.

"The aid, totaling US$42,077 (Rp 396.78 million) was extended for the procurement of equipment for beauty salon, sewing, car repair, computer and musical instrument training," the embassy said in a press release sent to The Jakarta Post.

West Java has around 300,000 drug addicts. -- JP
