Japan extends US$261,681 in aid
SURABAYA: The Japanese government has extended US$261,681 in aid for developing several projects in East Java and East Nusa Tenggara.
The assistance was handed over by Japanese Consul General in Surabaya Minoru Ishida on Wednesday.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) for implementation of the projects was signed by Minoru Ishida and Soedjatmoko, director of the Mojowarno Christian Hospital in Jombang, and Siswahyu, director of a nongovernmental organization, the Ikrar foundation.
About $68,344 of the total will be used to purchase medical equipment for improving heath services at Mojowarno Christian Hospital, Ishida said.
The remainder is earmarked to finance the development of three of the projects dealing with the installation of drinking water pipelines in East Java and East Nusa Tenggara, he said.
The water supply projects will be developed in Rana Kulan village in the East Nusa Tenggara Manggarai district and Panggung Rejo village in Blitar and Sendangharjo and Ngasem villages in Bojonegoro, East Java. -- Antara
