Japan awards RI citizens
JAKARTA: The government of Japan has awarded two Indonesians, both former state officials, for their contribution to developing the relationship between the two countries.
Enoch Amangku, a special assistant to President Sukarno between 1961-1963, and Muhammad Hasan Rahaya, the former member of the now defunct Supreme Advisory Council, were conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, in recognition of their meritorious services, the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia said in a press release on Friday.
Both Enoch and Hasan have long been involved in various organizations that promote relations between Indonesia and Japan. -- JP
