Jan. 15, 2004 - The Jakarta administration introduces the busway
system with its exclusive lane. Buses are packed with
enthusiastic crowds who get to try the brand new buses for free.
Jan. 16 - Two people riding on a motorcycle are injured when a
bus travelling from Blok M hit them, when it made a U-turn at the
Krukut intersection.
Jan. 17 - Bus Transjakarta hit the wall of the tunnel of the
railroad on Jl Matraman Raya, Central Jakarta.
Jan. 15 - Five drivers of Transjakarta resign saying they prefer
daily wages instead of a monthly salary.
Jan. 24 - A car driven by a Swiss citizen is damaged when a bus
traveliing from Blok M crashed into it at the Hotel Indonesia
roundabout.
Jan. 29 - A mob attempts to burn a bus travelling from Blok M as
it hit a motorcycle making a U-turn at the Krukut intersection,
causing serious injuries on the part of the motorcyclist.
Jan. 30 - A passenger suffers a broken leg when he enters a bus
at the Dukuh Atas bus stop.
Feb. 3 - A street singer died after his body was thrown out of a
bus on the busway lane in the front of the Bank Indonesia
building on Jl. Thamrin. The cause was unclear.
Feb. 5 - A motorcyclist suffered a broken leg and head injuries
as a bus travelling from Blok M hit his motorcycle making a U-
turn at the Batu Ceper intersection.
Feb. 9 - A convoy of vehicles including one transporting Vice
President Hamzah Haz entered the busway lane. His driver said he
was told to enter the lane by officers on the road as Jl. Thamrin
was congested.
March 17 - A member of the Presidential Guard almost clashed with
traffic police after was is stopped for entering the busway lane
in Harmoni area near the State Palace.
March 18 - Indonesian Military chief Gen. Endriartono Sutarto
orders the Presidential Guard's commander to take a strong
measure against the soldier who violated the special lane.
Nov. 1 - Bus passengers can use multiple trip tickets for Rp
25,000 to Rp 125,000 per ticket.
