Jamu Producer Shares Blessings with 1,000 Orphans
In its 75th year, in November, as a gesture of care and sharing, PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk again shared kindness with 1,000 orphans in Jakarta and the surrounding area. Sido Muncul provided assistance totalling Rp200 million on Thursday, 5 March 2025 at the company’s Jakarta office. The aid was symbolically handed over by the company’s Director, DR (HC) Irwan Hidayat, to representatives of orphans from 15 foundations or charities, in the presence of the Head of Cipete Selatan, Supriono. The fifteen foundations are Al-Ikhlas Cipete, Mizan Amanah Cilandak, Pengajian H. Saidi, Panti Asuhan Mizan Cipete Utara, Yayasan Al-Andalusia, Majelis Ta’lim At Taufik, Majelis Ta’lim Al Muawwanah, Al Ittihadiyah, Panti Yasni (Yayasan Sejahtera Insani), Yayasan Pundi Amal Dermawan Indonesia, Panti Asuhan Yos Sudarso, Mizan Pasar Minggu, Mizan Karang Tengah, Panti Asuhan Anak Yatim Piatu Muslim Nusantara Foundation, and Cipete Selatan.
Director Irwan Hidayat said the donation was a form of the company’s gratitude for being able to share. As they approach their 75th year in November, Sido Muncul hopes to benefit others.
“We are very grateful to be able to share with orphans in the Cipete area and surrounding areas. The aid we provide consists of cash totalling Rp200 million, with each child receiving Rp200,000,” Irwan Hidayat said.
“Ramadan is a month full of blessings, so for us this is an opportunity to do good and share happiness, especially to orphans. After all, even the smallest contribution is beneficial to the recipients,” he added.
After the handover, the Head of Cipete Selatan, Supriono, also praised Sido Muncul’s activities in his administrative area. “Thank you for your attention. May this be useful for the residents nearby,” Supriono said briefly.
One of the recipients is Yayasan Masjid Al Ikhlas Cipete.
Diana Marcella, administrator of the Foster Care Unit of Yayasan Masjid Islam Al Ikhlas, expressed gratitude that their foundation received this aid. She said it is very helpful. “Children can celebrate Eid. We received 101 envelopes. We will distribute them to orphans around our mosque,” Diana said after the handover by Irwan Hidayat.
Yayasan Pundi Amal Dermawan Indonesia (PADI) in Sukmajaya, Depok, West Java, also received this aid; indeed this is the second time. “There are 65 envelopes for children at Yayasan PADI. Mostly for preparing the children for Eid. Because they need it,” said one of the foundation volunteers, Siti Yulia.
Zidan and Indah are two of the 1,000 orphans who received aid from Sido Muncul. The two are wards of Yayasan Al-Ittihadiyyah, Cipete Selatan, and they are happy to receive such attention. “For Eid and for buying books,” said Zidan.
NEEDY PEOPLE
Besides the aid for 1,000 orphans in Jakarta and surrounding areas, a similar aid will also be given by Sido Muncul to 1,000 the underprivileged in Semarang next week. “This activity has routinely been carried out for ten years in Semarang. Meanwhile in Jakarta this is the fifth year. We are very grateful and hope that through this aid it will be beneficial and help some of their needs, especially in preparing for Hari Raya,” Irwan said. (H-1)
Taruna Ikrar, Chairman of Badan POM, said jamu is never just about nostalgia. He views jamu as a heritage of knowledge, biodiversity wealth, and also the potential of the creative economy.
Since 2000, Irwan said, Sido Muncul has begun toxicity testing and efficacy testing.
The Rp900 million total consists of cash of Rp620 million and Sido Muncul products valued at Rp280 million.
There are still many areas not yet reached, isolated.
Through this acknowledgement, Sido Muncul’s commitment to strengthening sustainable development practices within the company environment becomes increasingly undeniable.
