Jamsostek pays allowance

Following the publication of my letter to the editor of Koran
Tempo (Jan. 16) on the lack of responsiveness shown by the state
labor social security company (Jamsostek), I visited the firm's
Gambir branch on Jan. 19 to demand my allowance.

As required by Jamsostek, applicants must submit their
identity card, family list and certificate of job relief when
collecting old-age allowances.

However, after the firm confirmed the truth of the misfortune
I had experienced (a fire at Petak Dayak on Jan. 9), I was
permitted to receive my allowance simply by presenting a police
certificate and a statement of property loss.

I would like to express my gratitude to the management of
Jamsostek, Gambir branch, Jakarta, for showing understanding in
my difficult situation.
