Jamsostek allocates Rp 2b for food parcels

JAKARTA: State employee social insurance firm PT Jamsostek has set aside Rp 2 billion (about US$200,000) from its employee welfare improvement fund to provide affordable basic foodstuffs to workers and members of the public, Antara reported on Wednesday.

"This is to show our concern for the difficulties faced by workers and the public because of the fuel price increases," Jamsostek's operations and services director Tjarda Muchtar said during a bazaar at the Pulogadung industrial zone in East Jakarta.

During the bazaar, Jamsostek sold food parcels worth Rp 50,000 for Rp 10,000 each. The company has prepared 15,000 food parcels for Jakarta out of a total of 26,000 parcels to be distributed through Jamsostek branches across the country.

"This also forms part of the celebrations to mark PT Jamsostek's 26th birthday anniversary," Tjarda said. -- JP
