Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah Issues Full Statement in Response to Police
The Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, has finally spoken out regarding law enforcement processes conducted by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor Polri) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police on several corruption cases that have drawn public attention. Febrie held a press conference at the Round Building, Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Friday morning. This was the first time Febrie has spoken before the public since the recent law enforcement actions by the police.
Here is the full statement from Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah:
“Today we will deliver several explanations to the public, as we are aware of the vast amount of news and information circulating regarding law enforcement actions taken by the police, which in the reporting involves the Attorney General’s Office institution and its officials.”
“To ensure public opinion is not misguided, we deem it necessary to convey the following points:”
“First, we ensure that all activities and tasks assigned to us and our colleagues at the Round Building, who are conducting investigations, prosecutions, and field duties in executing evidence, are continuing. I have monitored that they are proceeding according to standard operating procedures and moving swiftly.”
“We continue to maintain the quality of the tasks carried out by the Round Building, particularly in eradicating corruption, which must be verifiable both materially and formally and will ultimately be disclosed to the public through trials at the District Court.”
“The Round Building is currently focused on resolving cases concerning the nation’s interests and the livelihood of our people, as well as supporting national priority programmes as directed and ordered by the President. These include efforts to safeguard natural resources. We are handling several cases, both those already public and those still confidential, regarding mining governance. We want all resources to be managed properly for the greatest benefit of the state.”
“We are also handling transfer pricing cases, which require significant energy from our investigators to resolve, and other cases that have garnered major public attention, such as the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.”
“Second, these efforts are part of the institution’s commitment to realising a clean, integrity-driven government and providing a deterrent effect against perpetrators of corruption. Therefore, public support and trust are vital energy for us at the Round Building to ensure law enforcement progress can run effectively, independently, and sustainably.”
“Third, we affirm that the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, will continue to respect every law enforcement process carried out by law enforcement officers in accordance with applicable procedural law.”
“Fourth, we understand that any dynamic in the law enforcement process can generate public attention. Hence, we invite the entire community to address every piece of information wisely, based on complete facts, to gain a correct understanding.”
“Fifth, in addition to criminal enforcement duties, there are other tasks such as the State Revenue Recovery Task Force (Satgas PKH), which continues to optimise state revenue through the collection of administrative fines. Furthermore, we have followed up with criminal instruments against companies that fail to pay administrative fines as stipulated by laws and regulations. This step is part of efforts to ensure that every obligation to the state is truly fulfilled for the maximum benefit of the public.”
“Sixth, the Attorney General’s Office will continue to support and ensure the success of various strategic government programmes that are national priorities, including the Free Nutritious Meals programme, Village Cooperatives, the Red and White Village programme, and other national priority programmes. This is to ensure every programme can run effectively, accountably, and provide tangible benefits to the community.”
“Ultimately, the Attorney General’s Office remains committed to carrying out its duties and authorities professionally, independently, and responsibly. We invite all elements of society to jointly maintain a healthy law enforcement climate and provide space for every legal process to proceed according to the mechanisms regulated in the legislation.”
