Jamkrindo Promotes Economic Independence for People with Disabilities

Karawang (ANTARA) — PT Jaminan Kredit Indonesia (Persero) is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to fostering an inclusive society through an empowerment programme for people with disabilities titled ‘Harmoni Karya Inklusif’ at Taman Cimanuk Adiarsa, Karawang Regency, on 21–23 August 2026. Jamkrindo Corporate Secretary Akhmad Albaasithu said that empowering people with disabilities should be placed in a broader perspective, namely providing opportunities to develop, create, and gain access to economic opportunities.

Under the sub-theme ‘Inclusive Creation Without Limits, Together Weaving the Future’, the programme is designed not only as a space for skills development but also as an effort to boost confidence, independence, and economic opportunities for people with disabilities. ‘We want to ensure every individual has the opportunity to develop and contribute value. Through Harmoni Karya Inklusif, we want to encourage people with disabilities to be more confident in developing their potential, while opening opportunities so their work can have economic value,’ Akhmad said in a press release on Monday (25/08/2026).

According to him, programme sustainability is an important aspect of empowerment. Therefore, the series of activities is designed so that the skills acquired by participants can be developed into products with added value and the potential to enter the market. The Harmoni Karya Inklusif programme includes batik training, sewing training, and an exhibition and competition of works by people with disabilities. The batik training was attended by 20 participants with disabilities, with material on developing distinctive Karawang motifs.

‘We want to build an ecosystem that allows skills to develop into productive activities. Therefore, we bring together batik and sewing training participants through business matching so that the fabric produced can be developed into ready-to-use products,’ Akhmad continued. Through business matching, batik and sewing training participants will be brought together to process batik fabric into various ready-to-use products, such as clothing, bags, accessories, and other creative products. This approach is expected to build a business value chain that directly involves people with disabilities, from the production process to product development.

‘We want the empowerment programme not to stop when the training ends. There is a follow-up process in the form of collaboration, product development, and introducing the work to the market. That way, participants have the opportunity to continue creating and become more economically independent,’ he said. As the culmination of the activity, an exhibition and competition of works by people with disabilities will be held, including a fashion show, display of works, judging, artistic performances, and awards for participants. The activity is expected to serve as a space for appreciation as well as a means of introducing the work of people with disabilities to the public, government, business community, communities, and potential marketing partners.

‘Through this exhibition and appreciation, we hope more parties will see that the work of people with disabilities has quality and potential to be developed. Inclusivity will become more meaningful when society, government, the business community, and communities can together open access and create opportunities,’ Akhmad said.
