Jambi to tryout in U.S. for PON

JAKARTA (JP): Jambi's swimming team plans to train in the U.S.
in preparation for the 14th National Games here this September,
training director Raja Nasution said yesterday.

Raja said he had named five gold medal hopefuls for the
American stint, scheduled from June 10 to Aug. 12 in Ontario,
California.

The team of Elsa Manora Nasution, Kevin Nasution, Maya Masita
Nasution, M. Akbar and Rosa Natalia will be accompanied by coach
Gerald HP Item during the overseas trip, Raja told Antara .

"We take the National Games very seriously because the rivalry
among participating provinces has become tougher than ever," said
Raja, father of Jambi's stalwarts Elsa, Kevin and Maya.

Jakarta, Central Java, East Java and West Sumatra were the
first to send swimmers abroad prior to the Games. (amd)
