Jambi threatens to deport 355 Indian citizens

JAMBI: The immigration office here has threatened to deport
355 Indian citizens in the province who have overstayed there
visas.

"So far, 355 Indian citizens who have been employed in
numerous companies in the province have yet to extend their
visas, which have been expiring. Those who are found guilty of
violating the immigration law will be deported by force,"
Sjafrulla Djabarti, chief of the local immigration office, said
here Tuesday.

He said that, so far, only 194 of more than 430 expatriates
have come to the immigration office to extend their visas.

"Despite the registration deadline being extended until Nov.
14, 2001, no Indian citizens have registered," he said. --Antara
