Jambi Targets Two Sekolah Rakyat to Begin Operations in July

Kota Jambi (ANTARA) - The Jambi Provincial Government (Pemprov Jambi) targets two Sekolah Rakyat (SR) in Jambi City and Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency to be operational in July or in the 2026-2027 academic year ahead. ‘The construction of SR is ongoing and hopefully will be completed on schedule. We are optimistic that in the upcoming new academic year it can be used to conduct teaching and learning activities,’ said the Head of the Jambi Provincial Social Service Agency Edi Kusmiran in Jambi, Thursday. He explained, each SR will accommodate 1,080 students divided into 36 study groups (Rombel). Specifically, the SD level will have 18 rombel with capacity 540 students, while SMP and SMA each have nine rombel with 270 students per level. Regarding student recruitment, it is entirely the authority of the Ministry of Social Affairs via PKH programme assistants in each district/city. PKH officers will determine eligible students using data distribution method based on order (desil), from desil one to desil two. ‘Sedangkan untuk kebutuhan tenaga pendidik, sepenuhnya menjadi wewenang dan tanggung jawab Dinas Pendidikan,’ he added. Acting Head of the Jambi Province Education Office Muhammad Umar confirmed that they will seek solutions to meet teaching staff needs at Sekolah Rakyat. He said that as long as the programme is beneficial and has significant advantages for the community, the local government will fully support it. ‘If teachers are said to be sufficient, yes, not enough according to needs, but we will still strive. Moreover, this is a central programme, we must support,’ Umar said.
