Jambi sets up poll supervisory team

JAMBI, Jambi: The Jambi administration opened registration on
Tuesday for Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) aspirants
to monitor the gubernatorial election in June next year.

Registration is open until Dec. 31.

Chief of the selection team Syafri Sofyan said that the
committee would comprise five people, representing the police
force, the prosecutor's office, the academia, the media and non-
governmental organizations. He said that several aspirants had
taken registration forms on Tuesday.

The five members chosen will be announced at the end of
January next year, and they will immediately begin work to
oversee the organization of the election of governor and deputy
governor. The work will begin in February and end in July, one
month after the June gubernatorial election in the province.

Jambi is one of over hundreds of regional governments across
the country which will hold direct gubernatorial elections in
June next year. -- JP
