Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Trans-Sumatra Toll Road project continues to be fast-tracked to connect numerous provinces on Sumatra island. Currently, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) is pushing to complete the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road project spanning 74.2 km.

As of now, land acquisition progress for that section stands at 94.79%, while physical construction progress has reached 97.91%. Of the total six sections, Sections 2 to 5 are already operational, and Section 6 is operational on the main route. Section 1 Padang Tiji-Seulimeum, spanning 25 km, is still under completion and targeted to operate in Quarter II 2026.

In addition to the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road, Hutama Karya is working on the Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road section spanning 170.70 km. The company is also preparing plans for the construction of the Jambi-Rengat Toll Road as a continuation of the strategic Trans-Sumatra Toll Road corridor in central Sumatra.

Currently, on the Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road, the Bayung Lencir-Tempino segment spanning 34.10 km and the Tempino-Ness segment spanning 18.49 km are operational and still serving road users without tolls. Meanwhile, ongoing construction work covers 118.14 km, consisting of Section 1 Betung-Tungkal Jaya spanning 62.38 km and Section 2 Tungkal Jaya-Bayung Lencir spanning 55.76 km.

Based on land and construction progress data:

  • Section 1A records 48.32% land acquisition and 57.64% construction progress

  • Section 1B records 41.14% land acquisition and 13.39% construction progress

  • Section 2A records 28.45% land acquisition and 22.03% construction progress

  • Section 2B records 40.48% land acquisition and 22.37% construction progress

As a continuation of that corridor, Hutama Karya is also preparing plans for the construction of the Jambi-Rengat Toll Road spanning 198.13 km. This section is considered vital to strengthen connectivity between Jambi and Riau provinces, support connectivity to productive areas, and promote efficiency in goods distribution and inter-regional mobility.

Acting Executive Vice President Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Hamdani, stated that support from the government and the DPR is expected to accelerate the completion of the Betung-Tempino-Jambi corridor and strengthen readiness for further development up to Jambi-Rengat.

“Support from the government and the Indonesian DPR is a vital energy for the sustainability of JTTS development. Hutama Karya will continue to uphold its commitment to delivering reliable, connected infrastructure that provides real benefits to society and regional economic growth,” said Hamdani in a written statement quoted on Sunday (26/4/2026).
