Jambi, VIVA – The Jambi Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Krisno Halomoan Siregar, underscored his commitment to eradicating narcotics distribution in Jambi Province. This was demonstrated through the destruction of drug evidence and the declaration of the Jambi Anti-Narcotics Movement. The event took place at the Jambi Regional Police Headquarters Field on Thursday, 21 May 2026. Attendees included Jambi Governor Al Haris, members of the Forkopimda, TNI-Polri officials, the Attorney General’s Office, BNNP Jambi, religious leaders, and students. In his address, IGP Krisno stated that the destruction of evidence was not merely a ceremonial legal ritual; it was a tangible display of transparency, accountability, and firmness by the police in cutting off the distribution of illegal goods in Jambi’s jurisdiction. ‘The destruction of the evidence we witness today is not just routine formalities; this event is concrete proof of transparency, accountability, and the resolve of the police together with related agencies to break the chain of illegal goods in Jambi’s jurisdiction,’ the Regional Police Chief was quoted as saying on Saturday, 23 May 2026. The confiscated items include 20 kilograms of methamphetamine, 20,241 ecstasy tablets weighing about 9.1 kilograms, and 1,975 cartridges of etomidate amounting to 4,332.5 millilitres. The evidence came from the findings of three police reports involving a total of six suspects. Of these cases, authorities also seized around 1.4 tonnes of various narcotics. ‘Through the uncovering and seizure of this round of evidence, we have saved 126,391 lives of the people of Jambi and its surroundings from the threats of narcotics,’ he said. Governor Al Haris of Jambi, for his part, praised the decisive steps taken by Polda Jambi along with all stakeholders in combating drugs in the region. ‘There is no safe place for drugs in Jambi Province,’ Al Haris said. He added that the destruction of the evidence sends a strong message to drug traffickers and dealers that the government, together with law enforcement agencies, is serious about protecting the younger generation from the narcotics threat. The event also included the signing of the Jambi Anti-Narcotics Movement declaration, which is expected to be rolled out to district, sub-district, village, and RT levels across Jambi Province.
