Jambi records 20 abuse cases
JAMBI, Jambi: Twenty cases of abused housewives and children were reported to the police in Jambi this year, although many unreported cases are thought to have taken place, an official said on Friday.
According to the secretary to Jambi city administration's counseling team for abused victims, Hidayatullah Hasanah, 14 cases are being processed by the police and the remaining six are being handled by her team.
"We suspect there were more cases of violence against women and children that were not reported," Hidayatullah said.
Apart from handling domestic violence cases, she said the team also provided moral support and encouraged victims to take the matter to the police. -- JP
