Jambi Provincial DPRD Visits Jakarta BPAD Regarding Asset Management
Regional asset management can no longer be limited to mere recording and administrative security. Amidst the demands to increase Regional Original Income (PAD) and facing fiscal constraints, government assets must be able to serve as productive instruments to drive economic growth and improve public services.
This spirit prompted Commission II of the Jambi Provincial DPRD to conduct a comparative study to the Regional Asset Management Agency (BPAD) of Jakarta Province on Friday, 31 July 202scale.
The visit is part of the DPRD’s efforts to seek best practices in building modern, transparent asset governance oriented towards increasing regional economic value. During the meeting, BPAD Jakarta presented various implemented breakthroughs, ranging from the digitalisation of asset management and the development of Jakarta Asset Motivation and Creation (JAMC), to the use of the AJAKIN digital platform as a regional asset marketplace, and data integration through the Jakarta Satu system. All these innovations are aimed at ensuring that government assets, which have previously been sub-optimal, can provide economic benefits without burdening the Regional Budget (APBD).
The First Vice Chairman of the Jambi Provincial DPRD, Ivan Wirata, noted that the transformation undertaken by the Jakarta Provincial Government serves as a concrete example that regional assets can become a source of fiscal strength if managed professionally.
“For a long time, assets have often been viewed merely as government property that must be guarded. In reality, if managed well, assets can become drivers of investment, open opportunities for healthy cooperation, and provide a real contribution to Regional Original Income,” said Ivan Wirata on Friday.
He emphasised that the paradigm of asset management must shift from mere preservation to optimising benefits for the community. “Digitalisation, legal certainty, transparency, and professionalism are the main foundations. When all assets are well-documented and have clear legality, the government will find it easier to determine which assets can be utilised productively without compromising public service functions,” he added.
According to Ivan, Jambi Province possesses significant asset potential, including land, buildings, and other strategic assets. However, this potential requires support from integrated information systems, accurate inventory, accelerated certification, and strong supervision to truly provide added value for regional development.
