Jambi Police Officer Found Dead in Boarding House, Five Officers Named as Murder Suspects

Investigators from the General Crimes Directorate of the Jambi Regional Police have named six suspects in the case of a member of the Tanjungjabung Timur (Tanjabtim) Police Resort who was found dead in his boarding house room on Saturday, 18 July 2026.

Head of the Jambi Regional Police’s Public Relations Division, Chief Commissioner Erlan Munaji, said in Jambi on Monday that the six named suspects comprise five police officers and one civilian. The five police suspects are Second Assistant Inspector MA, First Assistant Inspector EF, Second Brigadier DHR, Brigadier UVS, and Second Brigadier EBD, whilst the civilian suspect has the initials B.

“All six perpetrators are currently in detention and are being processed through the legal system. Investigators are still probing their roles and we will provide further updates as the case remains under investigation,” said Erlan.

The investigation into the death of Brigadier EWS, a member of the Tanjungjabung Timur (Tanjabtim) Police Resort, is continuing. To date, the Jambi Regional Police have examined 13 witnesses in an effort to uncover the facts behind the officer’s death.

Erlan said the questioning of witnesses is being carried out by investigators from the General Crimes Directorate together with the Jambi Regional Police’s Professional and Supervision Division, under the oversight of National Police Headquarters.

The examination process continues at pace as investigators delve into all information connected to the case.
