Jambi only invites cooperative investors

JAMBI: Jambi Regent Achmad Ripin said on Thursday that his
administration had declined to cooperate with investors who were
unwilling to hire locals.

Achmad made his point to the press during the groundbreaking
ceremony of the crude palm oil-processing factory at Tanjung Laut
village, Sekernan district, some 83 kilometers from Jambi.

"Due to high rates of unemployment, I want investors to ensure
60 percent their staff are locals as I don't want to make the
locals merely spectators," he said.

The regent said the Rp 75 billion processing-plant, built on a
30 hectare-plot by owners PT. Indoguna Inticornila and PT. Jambi
Indoguna International, was expected to raise the living standard
of the locals.

He said that Muaro Jambi regency had great potential for
investors as it was rich in natural resources such as forestry,
oil and gas.--Antara
