Jambi Language Agency distributes 80,600 books to support literacy movement

The Jambi Provincial Language Centre is distributing 80,600 quality reading books to 363 educational institutions across 11 regencies and cities to support the implementation of the National Literacy Movement (GLN) for the 2026 fiscal year.

“We hope that a culture of reading through the provision of quality reading books can grow and that students’ literacy skills will continue to improve sustainably,” said Head of the Jambi Provincial Language Centre Muhammad Zaki in Jambi on Thursday.

The assistance targets 283 primary schools and 80 junior secondary schools. Recipient schools are prioritised based on Category 1 literacy achievement in the 2025 Computer-Based National Assessment (ANBK) results.

Each target school receives 100 quality book titles distributed between July and September 2026.

He said Merangin Regency received the largest allocation, namely 17,900 copies, followed by Bungo with 10,100 copies, Sarolangun with 8,600 copies, Tebo with 8,400 copies and Kerinci with 7,800 copies.

Furthermore, East Tanjung Jabung received 6,200 copies, Batang Hari 700 copies, Muaro Jambi 5,400 copies, West Tanjung Jabung 5,200 copies, Jambi City 4,300 copies, and Sungai Penuh City 1,000 copies.

“The focus of quality reading book distribution in Jambi Province targets three areas with the largest allocations, namely Merangin, Bungo and Tebo Regencies,” he said.

His office, together with regional education agencies, continues to strengthen coordination, supervision and monitoring of the distribution and utilisation of the books.

“We hope this assistance can expand students’ access to quality reading materials and strengthen literacy culture throughout the Jambi Province,” said Zaki.
