Jambi Health Quarantine Office Prepares Special Procedures for Hajj Pilgrims with Fever
The Jambi Class II Health Quarantine Office (BKK) has prepared special procedures for Hajj pilgrims who experience fever upon arrival in Indonesia. Acting Head of BKK Class II Jambi, dr Dewi Julia Arta, stated on Tuesday that returning pilgrims will undergo a body temperature check immediately after disembarking from the aircraft. “This examination is part of the health screening procedure applied to all Hajj pilgrims upon arrival at the debarkation point,” she said. The measure aims to ensure the pilgrims’ health condition is monitored, while also preventing the potential spread of infectious diseases following their return from Saudi Arabia. According to her, pilgrims detected with a body temperature above 37 degrees Celsius will receive special handling. “These pilgrims will be separated and not combined with other pilgrims on the bus if a temperature above 37 degrees Celsius is found,” she said. She explained that pilgrims experiencing fever will be evacuated by ambulance to an isolation room for observation and further health examinations. “Officers will await the results of this examination, if the pilgrim has previously undergone health tests at the embarkation or debarkation point,” Dewi said. If laboratory tests have not yet been conducted, officers will take samples in the isolation room and send them to the Health Laboratory in Palembang for analysis. Dewi said the laboratory results can be known within three days to one week. While waiting for the results, pilgrims are still permitted to return home provided their condition is stable and they do not show severe symptoms. The BKK will also send a notification to district and city health offices to monitor the concerned pilgrims until the results are released. This effort is part of the special procedures prepared by the BKK to safeguard the health of Hajj pilgrims and the communities in their home regions.
