Jambi Hajj pilgrim dies in Makkah due to cardiogenic shock

Jambi (ANTARA) - A Hajj candidate named Asniyati Ahmad Bawari, 52, from BTH 24 Flight Group in Sarolangun Regency, Jambi, passed away at King Faisal Hospital in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, 23 May 2026 at 22:36 Saudi Arabia Time (SAT).

‘Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. On behalf of all Hajj service officers and the organising committee, we extend our deepest condolences over the passing of Mrs. Asniyati Ahmad Bawari in Makkah. May her deeds be accepted by Allah SWT, her mistakes forgiven, and may she die in a state of husnul khatimah as a Hajj hero,’ said Jambi Regional Office Head of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) Wahyudi Abdul Wahab in Jambi on Sunday.

According to the death certificate issued by the Indonesian Medical Mission, the deceased died from cardiogenic shock (heart pump failure).

The deceased had a history of Diabetes Mellitus (DM), which exacerbated her overall physical condition prior to her death, he said.

Her passing has caused deep sorrow for both her family and the Hajj officers who accompanied her.

Authorities and the Indonesian Medical Mission medical team are currently coordinating with Makkah hospital officials to handle the deceased’s funeral arrangements and burial in the Holy Land.
