Jambi City (ANTARA) - Jambi Governor Al Haris has expressed full support, including preparing a circular, for the policy restricting mobile phone (gadget) use by students in school environments. The Jambi Provincial Government will soon issue an official circular to regulate the use of such electronic devices during the teaching and learning process. “We (the Provincial Government) support it immediately, so indeed (PP Tunas) has been extraordinary, we will soon make a circular so that it is implemented in Jambi, supervised by all,” Al Haris emphasised on Monday. According to him, the step is taken because uncontrolled mobile phone use is deemed to have reached a worrying stage for students’ focus and development. In the future, supervision will involve all parties. Considering the success of implementing Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 on the governance of electronic system organisers in child protection does not only depend on rules on paper, strict field supervision is needed. To strengthen the policy, administratively the governor has instructed the Legal Bureau of the Provincial Regional Secretariat to draft its derivative regulations. The policy is expected to restore students’ concentration on classroom lessons and minimise the negative impacts of social media use and inappropriate digital content during school hours. “Schools, committees including parents of students (are involved), this is important because it is extremely disruptive, the Legal Bureau will soon make derivative rules,” Al Haris concluded.
