Pesparawi is not merely a competition, but a platform for the mental and spiritual development of Christians, particularly Protestants.

Jambi Governor Al Haris dispatched 83 members of the Jambi contingent to participate in the 14th National Ecclesiastical Choir Festival (Pesparawi) in Manokwari, Papua Barat Province.

“An event like this is very good because it teaches our children, especially Protestant Christians, how to master songs inspired by the scriptures,” Al Haris said in Jambi on Friday.

On that occasion, the governor expressed his full appreciation and support to all participants, trainers, and contingent officials who will represent Jambi at the national level.

According to him, Pesparawi is not just a competition, but a platform for mental and spiritual development for Christians, particularly Protestants.

Al Haris expressed his hope that the Jambi contingent would uphold the region’s good name and compete healthily to bring home proud achievements.

“We hope they depart with high spirits, achieve good results there, and return to Jambi with the best outcomes for all of us,” he said.

Abraham Tambun, Chairman of the Jambi Regional Pesparawi Development Institute (LPPD), stated that at this national event, Jambi will compete in 10 of the 12 categories being contested.

The 83 individuals will depart on 17 June, comprising 72 singers and 11 musicians, conductors, and trainers.

He added that for this competition, the LPPD received support from various parties through funding injections from the central government via the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Jambi City Budget (APBD), and the Jambi Provincial Budget (APBD).

Abraham expressed hope that through this competition, the Jambi contingent would bring honour to the region at the national level through their achievements, noting that the dozens of participants have undergone intensive training.

“The preparations have been so long and exhausting, but we are confident that with undiminished spirit, we can achieve success,” he said.
