Jambi Governor Applauds GP Ansor for Building Economic Independence through BUMA
The Governor of Jambi, Al Haris, has commended the GP Ansor Youth Movement for its efforts in building organisational economic independence and providing entrepreneurship education for young members through the Ansor-Owned Enterprise (BUMA), which has opened a branch office in Jambi City.
“I am proud to see that GP Ansor has a grand vision for building the community’s economy. This is not merely about business, but about how to educate young cadres to become entrepreneurs who are brave enough to create jobs,” said Governor Al Haris during the inauguration of the BUMA office in Jambi on Tuesday night.
According to Al Haris, the younger generation should not merely focus on becoming temporary staff or job seekers. Instead, they should begin to identify various wide-open business opportunities, ranging from the trade and agricultural sectors to the distribution of essential community goods. He noted that Jambi possesses significant economic potential that can be utilised by Ansor cadres by building partnerships with Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as potential markets.
The Governor also invited all GP Ansor cadres to revitalise the community’s economy through sustainable enterprises. He assessed that the presence of BUMA is a tangible effort to reduce poverty and improve public welfare. “I appreciate this grand idea; may BUMA become a continuous good deed (amal jariyah) whose benefits can be felt by the community in the long term,” he added.
The General Chairman of PP GP Ansor, Addin Jauharuddin, who attended the event, emphasised that the formation of BUMA is part of an organisational transformation to strengthen the economic independence of cadres and the community. According to Addin, BUMA will serve as an umbrella for all GP Ansor business activities, whether in the form of a Limited Liability Company (PT), a cooperative, or other business forms according to regional needs.
“BUMA must be a vehicle for the economic development of cadres and the community. It must not merely be ceremonial. The most important thing is sustainability and its benefits for the welfare of the cadres,” he stated. He advised cadres not to engage in excessive discussion without real action, noting that in the business world, the courage to start is a vital factor in achieving success. Addin also emphasised the importance of integrity, honesty, and networking capabilities. He argued that the organisation must be able to integrate various business potentials of its members into a collective economic strength.
The Chairman of the Jambi Regional GP Ansor, Habibi, stated that the formation of BUMA is a priority programme to increase cadre welfare. He explained that several business units are already operational, including digital printing, essential goods supply, and logistics services. Furthermore, GP Ansor Jambi is preparing a basic necessities store and establishing partnerships with various business partners.
He noted that support from the Jambi Provincial Government, the central GP Ansor leadership, organisational seniors, and various other parties serves as essential capital to ensure BUMA develops into a strong and sustainable business entity. The inauguration of BUMA, the signing of a digital printing machine grant, and the official opening of the BUMA GP Ansor Jambi office mark a new milestone in strengthening the economic power of Ansor cadres in Jambi Province. It is hoped that moving forward, BUMA can serve as an instrument for community economic empowerment while creating new jobs for the younger generation. “We want to change the paradigm that Ansor only operates in social and religious fields, but is also capable of building the economic strength of cadres professionally,” Habibi concluded.
