Jambi Governor: Academic Competency Test Plays Strategic Role in Mapping Student Learning Quality

Jambi City (ANTARA) - Jambi Governor Al Haris considers the Academic Competency Test (TKA) for students completing their educational level to have a strategic role in mapping student quality during their schooling period. “This test is one of the important indicators to see how far the curriculum that has been studied is truly mastered by our children, especially at the junior secondary level,” said Jambi Governor Al Haris in Jambi on Monday. Through this test, he said, the organisers will be able to assess student competency standards as well as evaluate the learning process taking place in schools. The TKA is not merely a routine examination, but an important evaluation instrument to measure the effectiveness of curriculum implementation in educational units. Furthermore, he emphasised that the TKA results will serve as the basis for formulating policies to improve education quality in Jambi Province. With measurable and comprehensive data, the government can determine strategic steps to strengthen education quality sustainably. Regarding the implementation of the TKA, Al Haris stated that the activity generally ran smoothly and orderly. He appreciated the readiness of schools and the support from all involved parties. “Overall, the implementation went well. However, in some areas, there are certainly potential obstacles, especially related to networks and electricity. This will be material for evaluation for the next implementation,” he said. Acting Head of the Jambi Provincial Education Office Muhammad Umar, in his report, conveyed that the implementation of the TKA for junior secondary level in 2026 in Jambi Province was participated in by 1,333 educational units with 62,212 students spread across 11 regencies and cities. He explained that the TKA results are not only used to measure student achievements but also as evaluation material for the readiness of infrastructure, equitable facilities, and the quality of educators in the local area. “The implementation of this TKA becomes an important momentum to map education quality comprehensively. The data obtained will be the basis for formulating policies to improve education quality in the future,” said Umar.
