A senior official from the Jambi Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas), identified by the initials RB (46), has been arrested by the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Jambi Regional Police for alleged involvement in a drug trafficking network. During the operation, police seized 500 ecstasy pills bearing Marvel and shell logos.

The Head of the Jambi Ditjenpas Regional Office, Irwan Rahmat Gumilar, stated that the institution fully respects the ongoing legal process. He emphasised that the institution is being cooperative and will not obstruct the examination of RB, who previously served in the service and guidance division.

‘The institution’s stance is clear. We fully support the legal process in an open and cooperative manner. There is no effort to cover up or obstruct the investigation,’ Irwan said in an official statement on Monday (29/6).

As a firm administrative measure, RB has been temporarily dismissed from his position as a Civil Servant (PNS). This step was taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations while the police process is underway.

Irwan added that the Jambi Ditjenpas Regional Office implements a zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse, in line with the directives of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections. He assured that there is no room for compromise for employees proven to be involved in the illicit drug network.

The case came to light after investigators arrested two other suspects, RE and BW. Based on their statements, the hundreds of ecstasy pills seized from RE were allegedly sourced from RB. All three suspects are currently detained at the Jambi Regional Police detention centre for intensive questioning.
