The government is signalling the opening of civil servant candidate selections in 2026. The Jambi City Government is opening formations to fill employee vacancies, as more than 240 civil servants will enter retirement this year.

The Head of the Regional Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDMD) of Jambi City, Rizalul Fikri, in Jambi, stated that the submission of these formations complies with the provisions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).

Kemendagri, he explained, requires the opening of CPNS formations in accordance with the number of civil servants retiring this year.

“The submitted formations are dominated by operational fields to support the smooth running of public services, but the final decision lies with the central government,” he said on Wednesday (8/4).

Local governments also recognise the limitations of regional budgets. Therefore, they will not propose formations beyond what is needed.

“Kemendagri regulates that the number of submitted formations must match the number of retiring civil servants. There is no additional budget,” he stated.

The Jambi City Government last opened CPNS selections in 2024 with 44 formations. All participants passed, but one resigned, resulting in 43 new civil servants.

Registration for CPNS 2026 is predicted to once again prioritise fresh graduates to encourage bureaucratic regeneration and national digital transformation.
