The Jambi City Government (Pemkot Jambi) emphasises the importance of the family’s role in supporting the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas). Jambi Mayor Maulana stated in Jambi on Monday that the success of implementing this regulation does not solely depend on the government but also on the active involvement of parents in monitoring children’s use of technology within the family environment. According to him, oversight of electronic devices and internet access must begin in the family setting as the primary foundation for shaping children’s character. The local city government is also continuously coordinating with schools and related agencies to educate the younger generation about the world of agriculture and encourage them to engage in productive outdoor activities, in order to reduce dependence on mobile phone usage. Meanwhile, Jambi City Psychologist Eka Renny Yustisia views PP Tunas as a crucial preventive step to protect children from the negative impacts of social media, while creating a safe space for adolescents to develop cognitively and emotionally without excessive social pressure. “We strongly support this policy, but digital regulations are only one aspect; other equally important aspects include family education, because without healthy dialogue between parents and children, children may still find ways to circumvent the system,” said Eka.
