JAM-Pidsus Resigns, DPR Demands Thorough Corruption Probe

Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has stressed that the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah from his post as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (JAM-Pidsus) must not weaken, obstruct, or halt the ongoing law enforcement process. All stages of handling the corruption case that has implicated his name must be completed objectively and professionally. To ensure the investigation does not slacken and remains on the correct track, Commission III moved swiftly by forming an internal supervisory team. “Commission III is fully committed to overseeing the handling of this case until it is resolved with legal certainty by forming a supervisory team,” said Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman on Saturday (11/7). The Gerindra Party politician cautioned that this momentum should not trigger confrontation or sectoral ego among law enforcement agencies. He stated that alleged corruption is a personal act committed by certain individuals and should not be viewed as a representation or policy of the institution. Habiburokhman urged the Indonesian National Police (Polri), the Attorney General’s Office, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to remain solid and united behind President Prabowo Subianto’s firm and uncompromising anti-corruption agenda. “The country needs its law enforcement officers to be united to move forward. We in Commission III will continue to ensure the oversight function runs optimally so that inter-agency cooperation remains robust and on the right path,” he asserted. Previously, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin officially accepted Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation letter from his position as JAM-Pidsus on Saturday (11/7). The resignation came after Febrie’s name was drawn into a corruption case currently being investigated by the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate. The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the resignation was a commitment to maintaining the integrity, objectivity, and neutrality of the legal process Febrie is facing with the police. Despite the resignation of its top leader amid an ongoing investigation, the Attorney General’s Office assured that case handling within the Adhyaksa Corps would not be disrupted. “The Attorney General’s Office respects the decision and ensures that all duties, functions, and case handling within the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes remain normal according to applicable mechanisms,” Anang said in an official statement. The Attorney General’s Office also urged all levels of society and related parties to respect the investigation process being conducted by police investigators while upholding the principle of presumption of innocence.
