Banyuwangi boasts numerous appealing destinations to explore. Dozens of members from the Jalin Overland community across various regions of Indonesia explored several tourist destinations in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, from Monday (1 June) to Tuesday (2 June).

Banyuwangi Vice Regent Mujiono noted that the Jalin Overland community used 23 modified 4x4 vehicles of various brands to explore the natural attractions of Banyuwangi, the easternmost regency on Java.

“Welcome to Banyuwangi. Please enjoy the natural beauty and warm hospitality of our people. Banyuwangi has numerous appealing destinations to explore, and we hope all participants have an excellent experience during this expedition,” said Vice Regent Mujiono while welcoming the community at the Banyuwangi Regency Hall on Monday.

Jalin Overland’s organiser, Wijaya Kusuma, mentioned several key destinations in Banyuwangi to be visited, including Marina Boom Beach, Bangsring Underwater, Grand Watu Dodol (GWD), and Ijen Nature Reserve.

“We will stay overnight at Ijen tonight before continuing our journey to Bali tomorrow,” he said.

According to Wijaya, the activity is not merely a networking opportunity between communities but also a platform to promote the tourism potential of visited regions to the wider public.

He added that every overland journey is accompanied by efforts to promote tourist destinations through various communication channels and community networks.

“Our activities serve as tourism promotion. Why Banyuwangi? Because it has so much beauty, including its regency hall, which is remarkable,” Wijaya said.

Iwan Sakri, Chairman of the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesia Offroad Federation (IOF), added that Banyuwangi is a region with extraordinary natural wealth and deserves to be a top tourist destination in Indonesia.

He admitted having visited Banyuwangi several times, with each exploration trip leaving him with wonderful memories.

“In the past six years, I’ve been to Banyuwangi four times, and even that hasn’t been enough to fully explore it,” Iwan said.

“Overland trips are not just about exploring terrain and tourist destinations but also strengthening camaraderie, brotherhood, and family-like bonds among participants,” he added.
