Jakarta – Residents have lodged complaints regarding the condition of Jalan Waduk Pluit Selatan in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, which is considered hazardous to road users.

The road’s damaged surface, tilted terrain, and pronounced height differences are reported to frequently cause riders to fall, particularly motorcyclists.

Syauqi (24), a local resident, stated that incidents of riders falling occur almost daily, especially in the middle section of the road where there is a significant height difference. According to him, this condition has persisted for considerable time without any significant repairs. Due to the frequent minor accidents, local residents have even established a first-aid kit station to assist injured riders.

“When people are injured, we usually take them there for treatment,” he said.

He added that the situation becomes more dangerous during rainfall, as the road surface becomes more slippery and difficult to control.

“If motorcycles come through the middle, I can guarantee they’ll fall,” he stated.

Similar complaints were raised by Geral (30), a trader operating near the damaged road section. He noted that rider accidents occur almost every evening.

“Well, it’s crowded near the reservoir area. Especially young people – when they speed through, sometimes while drunk, they fall,” he said.
