Jalan Rasuna Said to Become Centre for Jakarta's 499th Anniversary Proclamation, Pramono Explains Reasons

The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) will hold the proclamation of Jakarta’s 499th anniversary towards five centuries on 9–10 May 2026 along the Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said corridor in Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the location was chosen because the Rasuna Said area is considered a new icon of Jakarta’s transformation as a global city.

“The arrangement of this area is the main focus of the 499th Jakarta anniversary proclamation,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (7/5/2026).

According to him, the area is not only known as a centre for business and diplomacy but also as a space for sports activities, lifestyle, and urban community culture.

“This area is not only a centre for diplomacy and business but also a facility for sports, lifestyle, and culture. Therefore,” he said.

According to Suharini, the area demonstrates collaboration between the government, diplomatic parties, and the private sector in realising Jakarta as a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable city.

“We can imagine the liveliness of this event with the support of 30 embassy buildings, 15 ministry and agency offices, as well as more than 200 private office buildings, shopping centres, hospitals, and vertical housing. This major collaboration will present a new face of Jakarta in various aspects of life,” said Suharini.

Various creative concepts are being prepared to enliven the celebration towards Jakarta’s five-century age.

“Through the leadership of Governor Pramono and Deputy Governor Rano, the Pemprov DKI Jakarta has prepared various creative concepts that can be enjoyed by all communities. We are presenting sports activities, Betawi arts, to a magnificent peak event. We want all residents to attend and enliven this event,” said Suharini.

For information, the 499th Jakarta anniversary proclamation will be filled with various activities, starting from “Sehat Bugar Rasuna” in the form of morning gymnastics together with the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Office, to “Dengar Dekat Betawi” which presents Betawi lenong entertainment.

In addition, the peak event titled “Spekta Jakarta” will also be held with dialogue sessions with the governor and deputy governor as well as performances by several national musicians.
