Jaksel Police Strengthen Preparedness Against Potential Terrorism Through Mako Security System Simulation

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort is strengthening its preparedness to face potential security and public order disturbances (kamtibmas) as well as terrorism threats through a simulation of the Command Headquarters Security System (Sispam Mako). The Head of Operations of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, AKBP Tribuana Roseno, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday, stated that the simulation aims to ensure the readiness of personnel in protecting the command headquarters (mako), assets, and the surrounding environment. “Sispam Mako is an activity to secure the mako, assets, and personnel from threats such as kamtibmas disturbances or terrorism. This is a form of our preparedness in case of unwanted incidents,” he said. In the simulation, the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort deployed around 700 personnel, or about two-thirds of its total strength. In addition to involving police personnel, the activity also engaged community potentials such as social organisations (ormas), online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol), and other community elements. “We cannot act alone in maintaining kamtibmas. We also involve community potentials to help maintain security, especially in the South Jakarta area,” he stated. Seno added that the security focuses on protecting the mako, including assets, personnel, and the surrounding environment from various possible threats. This simulation is a contingency activity as a proactive step against the dynamics of the global situation that could potentially impact domestic security conditions. “We are anticipating unwanted things in the future, considering the developing global issues. Through this simulation, we want to ensure the readiness of personnel in facing various possibilities,” he said. The South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort hopes that through this activity, the kamtibmas situation in its area remains safe and conducive.
