Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Central Administrative City Government (Pemkot Jakpus) is committed to ensuring food security through the signing of an agreement with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BBPOM). “Jakarta is not only obliged to have stocks available for the needs of the community; now we are further enhancing that availability to ensure it is safe,” said the Mayor of Central Jakarta Administration, Arifin, in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, to guarantee food security, his side has signed an agreement with the DKI Jakarta Provincial BBPOM. He explained that food security must be carried out collaboratively, especially by agencies handling food safety supervision for Jakarta residents. “We begin with the signing of a joint commitment to realise safe food for Central Jakarta. This requires synergy between the central government, local government, and business actors in implementing food security,” he stated. He said that in Jakarta today, what is secured is not only food stocks or availability, but food security has also become a basic need. According to Arifin, to achieve the goals of this programme, it must awaken each village or sub-district community, market, and school to be empowered, participate, and be independent in fostering food supervision. “Collaboration with DKI Jakarta BBPOM, related sub-department services, UMKM, food security, PD Pasar Jaya, and others to ensure that all food consumed by the community is safe,” he said. Meanwhile, the Head of DKI Jakarta BBPOM, Sofiyani Chandrawati Anwar, stated that after this collaboration, cadres will be formed for food supervision in the field as well as the steps related to places that sell it. “This is a form of intervention; cadres will be formed in every sub-district, schools, and markets. So, being community-based, we utilise that like PKK and others; we will also conduct bimtek (technical guidance) for the cadres,” she added.
