Jakpus Administration Promises Business Coaching for Residents Affected by Building Demolition

The Central Jakarta City Administration has committed to providing business coaching for some of the traders affected by the demolition of 95 semi-permanent buildings in Karet Tengsin. The demolition, carried out on Thursday (6/8/2026), targeted structures built over a connecting water channel as part of a spatial planning effort to restore drainage function and improve the environmental quality of the area. The coaching programme is intended to equip affected residents with the skills to develop their businesses in a more organised and sustainable manner following the relocation. Amidst the spatial reorganisation, residents expressed hope that government support would not end with the demolition, but would also include concrete solutions for the continuity of their businesses and livelihoods.
