Jakpro Targets LRT Jakarta Phase 1B to be Operational by August 2026

PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) is targeting the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B to become operational by August 2026, following the completion of construction and a thorough system readiness check. “This is in line with the direction of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, the construction of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B is part of efforts to strengthen Jakarta’s public transport system while supporting the fulfilment of indicators for Jakarta as a global city,” said Jakpro President Director Iwan Takwin in Jakarta on Wednesday. Iwan stated that the presence of this line is expected to contribute to creating a comfortable urban space to live in, a cleaner and more sustainable environment, and increasingly connected intra- and inter-city accessibility. He noted that once fully operational, the combined operation of LRT Jakarta Phase 1A and 1B is targeted to serve up to 18 million passengers by 2028. Beyond strengthening inter-regional connectivity, this electricity-based public transport system is also projected to contribute to a reduction in urban carbon emissions of up to 2,927,250 tonnes of CO₂e, as part of the effort to realise a more sustainable Jakarta. “Jakpro affirms its commitment to completing the construction of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B according to target,” he said. Iwan added that the presence of this line is expected to be a tangible manifestation of the contribution of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Jakpro in strengthening public transport connectivity, while delivering an increasingly integrated urban mobility system for the public. “We are fully committed to completing this project on target. This is not solely about finishing construction, but also part of the effort to present public transport services that are increasingly integrated, reliable, and provide real benefits for the people of Jakarta,” he said. The construction of the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Velodrome–Manggarai route is now 100 percent connected after Jakpro completed the lifting and installation of the final girder. “The final girder was installed above the Manggarai Double-Double Track (DDT) area, which is one of the most critical points in the entire project,” Iwan said. He explained that with the installation of this final girder, the entire series of girder lifting works along the Velodrome–Manggarai corridor is now 100 percent connected. “This marks the completion of one of the most challenging construction stages in the development of LRT Jakarta Phase 1B.”
