Jakpro Projects LRT Jakarta to Carry 80,000 Passengers Daily
PT Jakarta Propertindo (Perseroda) (Jakpro) has stated that the extension of the Jakarta LRT network, which will connect Kelapa Gading Station with Manggarai Station, is projected to carry 80,000 passengers per day.
“The network extension is projected to gradually increase user numbers to between 60,000 and 80,000 passengers per day,” said Jakpro Director of Engineering and Development Robert Sarjaka in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said the increase in users is expected to contribute to reducing private vehicle use, congestion, and emissions from the transport sector.
According to him, the planned inauguration and initial operation on 26 August 2026 represents an important milestone for the development of the public transport system in Jakarta.
“The presence of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai line not only expands the service reach of the Jakarta LRT, but also strengthens inter-area connectivity and intermodal integration in Jakarta,” said Robert.
As of the fourth week of July 2026, he said, overall construction progress on the Velodrome–Manggarai corridor of the Jakarta LRT had reached 97.99 percent.
In line with the direction of Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, the development of the Jakarta LRT is part of efforts to strengthen the public transport system as the foundation for Jakarta’s journey towards becoming a global city.
“Jakpro, together with the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), is ensuring that all preparatory stages leading to operation are carried out carefully and in accordance with applicable regulations, with public safety and comfort as the top priority,” Robert stressed.
As is known, the Jakarta LRT will serve a 12.2-kilometre route connecting 11 stations, from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai.
The eleven stations that will operate include Kelapa Gading Station, Boulevard Utara Station, Boulevard Selatan Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.
Then, Rawamangun Station, Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, Proklamasi Station, and Manggarai Station.
In terms of integration, Rawamangun Station, Pramuka Station, Matraman Station, and Proklamasi Station are integrated with Transjakarta services.
Meanwhile, Manggarai Station is one of the main integration hubs with the KRL Commuter Line, Airport Rail Link, and Transjakarta, thereby strengthening the Jakarta LRT’s connectivity with other public transport networks.
With the operation of the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai line, the journey from Kelapa Gading to Manggarai is targeted to take around 28 minutes.
“The presence of this line is expected to provide a faster and more efficient mobility alternative, while encouraging the public to increasingly choose public transport for their daily journeys,” Robert added.
