Jaklingko Proposed to Charge Rp2,000 Fare After Being Free
The Jakarta Transport Council (DTKJ) has proposed that the Mikrotrans service, known as Jaklingko, should no longer be free for the public. The proposal aims to ensure the number of passengers using the service is accurately recorded.
DTKJ Chairman Sugihardjo revealed that the current Rp 0 fare for the Mikrotrans service was part of a trial for the feeder transport system. The trial was conducted to ensure the public could easily access transportation from their homes to bus stops or stations.
“Previously, Mikrotrans was a trial to ensure the first-mile and last-mile connectivity works. So from home, you can connect directly to BRT or non-BRT services. Because it was a trial, the fare was Rp 0, but it has continued,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Friday (3/7/2026).
According to him, the Mikrotrans service should be paid. However, the fare imposed must not burden the public. In his proposal, Sugihardjo stated that passengers would be charged a fare of Rp 5,000 to access integrated Transjakarta services within the city. With this fare, passengers would not incur additional charges when transferring between Transjakarta BRT, non-BRT, or Mikrotrans services.
Meanwhile, for people who only use Mikrotrans without transferring to other services, a fare of Rp 2,000 is proposed. “We are proposing Rp 2,000. So this means it will change from not paying to paying,” he said.
According to him, imposing a fare is important for passenger data collection. This is because there have been practices that manipulate actual passenger data in the field.
Sugihardjo explained that the contract between Transjakarta and Mikrotrans operators includes targets for kilometres travelled and the number of passengers that must be met. When the service was free, certain parties would tap cards solely to increase passenger numbers, as no fare deduction occurred.
“Now, with the Rp 2,000 fare, would I still want to tap cards randomly? My money would run out. So the data will be more real,” he said.
