PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has taken firm action by dismissing a driver of a Mikrotrans/JakLingko fleet serving route JAK 54 (Grogol-Bendungan Hilir). The driver was sacked after striking an elderly man on Jalan Tomang Utara, West Jakarta, on Saturday, 25 July. “Transjakarta offers its sincerest apologies for the incident involving our operator. The driver in question has undergone an investigation process and has been given a strict sanction in the form of Dishonourable Discharge (PTDH) by the operator,” said Ayu Wardhani, Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department at Transjakarta, in a written statement on Wednesday, 5 August. Ayu revealed that the driver of the fleet belonging to operator Koperasi Komilet Jaya (KMJ 2104) had attempted to hide the true facts of the incident from the operator and Transjakarta, before it was finally uncovered after further investigation. Currently, the settlement process and form of accountability to the victim are ongoing. “Transjakarta continues to oversee and ensure the settlement process between the operator and the victim runs well and is completed,” Ayu stressed. Responding to this event, the management of PT Transjakarta urges the public and passengers to immediately report any obstacles or violations in the field via the Call Centre at 1500-102 or Transjakarta’s official social media channels. “We are committed to immediately responding to and following up on every report received. We thank the public for their reports and the attention from various parties regarding this incident,” she added. The accident was experienced by Akiam (81). The victim’s child explained that the unfortunate incident occurred when his father was riding a motorcycle to the market at around 7.55 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. According to eyewitness accounts at the scene, the Mikrotrans Route JAK 54 fleet was travelling at high speed and suddenly changed lanes, hitting the victim’s motorcycle. As a result of the heavy impact, the victim suffered serious injuries including fractures to his arm and nose, as well as severe chest pain. The victim was assisted by local residents at the scene before being rushed to hospital for intensive medical treatment.
