Jakarta's Urban Farming Festival to showcase modern agricultural technology
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Office (KPKP) will hold an Urban Farming Festival in July 2026 in Jakarta as a platform to showcase modern agricultural technology and local agricultural products.
“There is an image that farming is dirty. However, for Jakarta, we are prioritising modern agricultural technology,” said the Head of the Jakarta KPKP, Hasudungan Sidabalok, during a podcast hosted by the Jakarta Provincial Government on Wednesday.
Members of the public interested in viewing modern agricultural technologies suitable for Jakarta, exploring products from local farmers, and participating in urban farming training can visit the Urban Farming Festival, which will take place from 4-5 July 2026 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.
“There is no fee to attend the Urban Farming Festival,” said Hasudungan.
In addition to the exhibition, attendees can participate in talk shows covering various topics, ranging from zero-waste business opportunities and exploring the coffee universe to the secrets of healthy lifestyles for urban workers, agricultural and fishery businesses, as well as zoonotic risks and how to live safely with pets.
“There will also be a rabies vaccination drive for 500 cats, alongside pet education and a bazaar featuring MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) mentored by the KPKP Office,” added Hasudungan.
He expressed hope that through the Urban Farming Festival, the agricultural products of Jakarta’s farmers will become more widely known, while simultaneously demonstrating to the public that farming is a ‘cool’ profession.
“Therefore, the younger generation does not need to fear engaging in agricultural activities. We also hope that the Urban Farming Festival can reach a wider audience,” concluded Hasudungan.
